Travel Plans

As part of the vision to be the Ultimate Campus University for the 21st Century, Keele University is committed to a coherent approach to travel to, from and around its campuses which will benefit both the University and the local community. Such an approach will take into account mobility, amenity, safety, landscape and environmental issues and will be appropriate to all campuses, staff, students and all users.

An independent consultancy, Icarus, with extensive experience in enabling stakeholders to participate in planning and decision making was appointed to design and deliver an engagement process to enable key stakeholders to enter into discussions and deliberations regarding travel/transport issues to, from and around the whole campus and the hospital site. The deliberative consultation took place over several months and included workshops, an open forum and a reference group.

The final report has now been produced and includes recommendations on facilities for cycling, ways to increase the use of public transport, reducing cars on campus and increasing car park charges, with the revenue being used to fund other proposed changes.
