Key Regional and Sub-regional Partners
At a regional level: in addition to the major funding agreement made with the Regional Development Agency, Advantage West Midlands for the expansion of the University and Science Park, the University also engages with a wide range of other regional partners.
At a sub-regional level, the University plays active roles in: -
- the North Staffordshire Regeneration Partnership which comprises a range of constituent organisations such as the City of Stoke on Trent,
- the Newcastle under Lyme Local Strategic Partnership which comprises a range of constituent organisations such as Newcastle under Lyme Borough Council
- the Staffordshire Strategic Partnership which comprises a range of constituent organisations such as Staffordshire County Council
Keele University officers have played active roles within the sub-regional regeneration and partnership bodies for several years.
The University’s Secretary and Registrar, Simon Morris is a member of the recently formed North Staffordshire Regeneration Partnership Board and carried out a similar role for its predecessor, the North Staffordshire Regeneration Zone. He is also the Vice Chair of the Newcastle under Lyme Local Strategic Partnership
The Head of External Relations, Ros Gallagher, and the External Development Officer, Eric Kelsall, led Theme and Programme Groups in the Regeneration Zone and are active participants in the “Transforming North Staffordshire” report being co-ordinated by the Work Foundation.
The University and its subsidiary company, Keele University Science and Business Park Limited, are actively engaged in the delivery of the site infrastructure for the expansion of the University and Science Park. This project is one of the strategic priorities for the regeneration of the North Staffordshire sub-region.
