Funding for the project was provided by Advantage West Midlands via the North Staffordshire Regeneration Zone. The development is proceeding in accordance with a comprehensive planning approval issued by Newcastle under Lyme Borough Council and in accord with legal agreements with Staffordshire County Council for off site highway and public safety improvements.
The infrastructure is being provided by a range of local and regional contractors and consultants. The lead contractor is Wrekin Construction Company which won the contract for these works against strong competition having being judged against a full range of factors such as value for money, deliverability, sustainability and benefits to the local supply chain.
Poole Dick Associates are providing cost consultancy services; Staffordshire County Council has undertaken detailed civil engineering design
Wardell Armstrong has prepared the ecological management plan and advice on landscape design
Watermans are advising on the provision of utilities and Alan Brough Associates are undertaking site supervision.
Our locally-based consultants have brought real commitment to the project and deliver significant regeneration benefits by safeguarding local jobs and increasing spend in the North Staffordshire economy.
Wrekin Construction are delivering other local regeneration benefits - over 50% of the company’s direct labour and staff live in a ST Post Code area and over 90% live in the West Midlands. Over 60% of materials were brought in the ST Post Code area (and c. 85% in the West Midlands). The subcontractors procured to date have all come from within the West Midlands.
The site will also have very high levels of re-used materials within the site and use recycled materials (e.g. Granulated Fuel Ash) from elsewhere in Staffordshire.
The existing Home Farm buildings have been refurbished for use as the Contractors Office and the base for Consultants and for Client meetings.
